Come late January Dr. Matt Brown-Ruegg does the Standard Process 21-day purification program (he calls it the 21-day cleanse) each year to help him (and his family) reset how they eat with the end goal of making better and healthier food choices during the entire year. After the holidays and sugar laden treats, this program helps bring good focus on what we eat and helps to redefine good eating habits for most of the coming year. He always encourages patients with these same goals to try the Standard Process 21-day program and pulled together the following information from Standard Process to help those on the program. We hope those about to do this program find this information helpful. And even if you don’t do the program – there are some great recipes in the cookbook!
The Standard Process 21- day purification program includes eating whole, organic and unprocessed foods; taking whole food supplements; and drinking plenty of water. You will eat a variety of vegetables and fruit for the first 10 days, with select proteins added on day 11.
During the next 21 days, you will experience ups and downs, both physically and emotionally. To help you understand how you might feel and physical effects that you might experience, take a look at this overview: http://www.standardprocess.com/Standard-Process-Document-Library/Guides/purificationguideL2605.pdf
When you’ve completed the 21-day purification program, you’ll be amazed at how good you find yourself feeling. You’ll learn how to transition to a new, healthful way of eating that will continue your journey toward a clearer, brighter, lighter way of life.
The program gives you a structured plan for purifying, nourishing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle and check out this amazing recipe resource Standard Process has put together to help you succeed:
We at Hillclimb suggest these pages (although the entire doc is good info):
- Pages: 27-48 – Want a daily outline of what to eat? Use these pages
- Pages: 50-56 – Need a variety of shake recipes? Check these pages out.
- Pages: 57-96 – Lots and lots of recipes to try so you don’t feel like you are just eating carrots and celery
- Pages: 97+ – Post cleanse recipes and shopping ideas to keep you eating healthier after the cleanse is over
Remember, this is a time of renewal. Use these 21 days to learn and regenerate. Take time for introspection, creative outlets, take time for yourself and enjoy the journey.
For those partaking, best of luck!
