Your First Chiropractic Visit

Reminder, please arrive 15 minutes early for your initial appointment to complete our in-office paperwork.

On your first meeting with Dr. Brown-Ruegg or Dr. Flood, a thorough health history is obtained. This helps pinpoint the actual root cause of your problem and not just the symptoms with the end goal of helping protect the investment of time and money in your health and empowering you to make informed choices about treatment options.

Next Dr. Brown-Ruegg or Dr. Flood performs an examination of your spine, posture and body alignment. You will be taken through a couple of specialized tests to determine which tissues are affected and to what extent.

They may also examine other areas depending on your specific complaints, such as shoulders, knees, wrists or feet. Your specific condition may require x-rays to either rule out more serious conditions or assist in developing the most effective treatment plan for you. Upon completion of this initial exam, a follow-up appointment is made usually within 1-2 days to go over the complete results and discuss treatment options.

Reminder, please arrive 10-15 minutes early for your initial appointment to complete our in-office paperwork.

Please wear loose fitting clothes for easy access to arms and legs.

A first visit begins with a thorough intake where you and one of our acupuncturists will discuss your health history and goals for treatment, followed by a full treatment which may include a combination of acupuncture, acupressure massage, cupping, guasha, Tui Na, and an herbal prescription.

Your individual treatment plan will be discussed at this time. The number of treatments necessary to resolve a specific condition will vary depending on the severity of the condition and the underlying constitution of the individual. Chronic conditions take longer to treat, typically 8-10 treatments for significant changes. More recent conditions can often be resolved within 3-6 treatments. It is important to remember that it took your body time to build up imbalances, and it will take time to shift back to greater health. Cultivating patience and self compassion is always helpful when stepping into a healing journey.
