There are 8 vitamins in the B vitamin family: Thiamine (B1), Riboflavin (B2), Niacin/Niacinamide (B3), Pantothenic Acid (B5), Pyridoxine (B6), Biotin (B7), Folate/Folic Acid (B9), Methylcobalamin (B12).

Here are a few of the important jobs B vitamins do to keep us healthy: B vitamins assist the human body in metabolism – meaning the building up and breaking down of our body. In short – B vitamins help keep our bodies running smoothly. B vitamins work synergistically, meaning if you have a shortage of one, it’s likely to affect the body’s ability to make use of others.

B Vitamin Injections are well tolerated by most people. Some patients experience mild redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection site, but these side effects typically dissipate quickly. Patients who are particularly sensitive to B12 may feel “wired” after the injection, though this sensation usually lasts only 8-12 hours. If you have an allergy to cobalt, chronic liver disease, kidney disease, or any type of infection, please inform Dr. Disharoon during your consultation as you may not be an ideal candidate for B12 injections. In addition, certain medications can reduce the absorption (and therefore the benefits) associated with B12.
