If you are thinking of having any of these procedures – spinal fusion, vertebroplasty, Kyphoplasty – for back pain make sure you ask what evidence, if any, shows that surgery is better than other options.

And remember many back problems are better treated w/ conservative care (chiropractic, acupuncture, supervised exercise, PT, massage therapy, etc.) and chiropractic, acupuncture and massage therapy are all nonsurgical alternative.
